Adam graduated from the University of Victoria with Honours in Science in 2022. While in school he worked for 5 years in a neuropsychology lab studying the effects of chronic sleep deprivation on cognitive performance. It was during this time that he first developed a passion for hands-on clinical work, and he hopes to use his research experience, as well as his enthusiasm for learning and teaching, to benefit his patients directly. In his spare time, Adam loves rock climbing, and taking his rescue schnauzer for hikes around Vancouver Island.

Johnathan

Johnathan joined AvantSleep in 2021 as a Sleep Clinician after graduating from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) with a Bachelor of Health Sciences minoring in Psychology. While studying, Johnathan played 5 Years of USport (CIS) level soccer with the UNBC Timberwolves Mens Soccer team. From these experiences, Johnathan has developed a passion for not only soccer, but for the health and well-being of his patients. He finds his job very rewarding in being able to assist his patients with their sleep issues in the community he grew up in (Prince George) and calls home. In his spare time, Johnathan continues to play soccer as well as support his country of origin (Portugal) in various competitive competitions like the FIFA World Cup (GO PORTUGAL!!).

Reshi

Reshi graduated the respiratory therapist program in 2014 at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. He worked in a variety of clinical settings from pulmonary function tests, home oxygen, clinical trials before finally finding his passion for sleep medicine. He is currently working on a Bachelors of health science at the Thompson River University. His mission is to improve the quality of life of his patients and continue to educate his community about sleep apnea. When not working or taking classes, Reshi enjoys exploring the island with his wife and playing Nintendo!

Jessica

Jessica is new to sleep medicine but has always had a passion for patient care. She joined AvantSleep in early 2022, but previously worked as a phlebotomist and a lab tech in Langley. As she has a thirst for knowledge and research, she has found it easy and enjoyable to take on her new roll as a sleep clinician. She’s quick to build good rapports with all her patients and finds it easy to connect with them to get them the best treatment possible. She moved to the island with her husband and three young daughters and has been enjoying the relaxed pace that the island provides.

Niki has been working in sleep medicine for the past seven years and working as part of the AvantSleep family since 2021. She has a Master of Science from the University of Regina and takes pride in being a certified nerd. Before working in sleep medicine, she worked with the Indigenous People Health Research Centre doing community-based research. She enjoys the patient focused work and being able to see the life changing results that PAP therapy gives her patients.  She gained a love for basketball from playing it throughout her life and is a diehard Raptors fan. She is blessed to have such a close family and is the very proud Auntie of two amazing children.

Laurie joined AvantSleep in 2013 and in May 2014 she was offered the exciting position of Sleep Clinician working with patients in the Edmonton office.  Her journey has also led her to working remotely with patients in Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria and currently Penticton.   She finds her job very rewarding as she always enjoys the diversity of my work and to be able to help her patients attain success for many sleep issues and improved quality of life.  

Mandeep

Mandeep wanted a career in healthcare since early childhood. She began her pursuit at Simon Fraser University where she completed her Undergraduate degree with a major in Biological Sciences. She then went on to study Respiratory Therapy at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. While completing her studies she had the opportunity to help with the planning of Kamloops Annual Sleep Conference. Mandeep completed her clinical practicum at lower mainland hospitals such as Surrey Memorial Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital and BC Children’s Hospital. Mandeep joined the AvantSleep family in 2017 and she continues to enthusiastically provide clinical support to an active patient base in the Burnaby office.

Johanna

Johanna joined the AvantSleep Edmonton team in 2018 as an Office Administrator. She quickly grew a greater interest in sleep medicine and furthered her training to become a Sleep Clinician. Since July 2019, she has taken great joy in treating her patients with care and compassion. She takes pride in the continuing clinical care of her patients and being a part of her patients’ positive health journey. Johanna assists her patients at any of the three Avantsleep clinic locations in Edmonton AB.

Angela

Angela is a Registered Respiratory Therapist at our Edmonton South location and holds a Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where she graduated with Honours in 2012.  Prior to Respiratory Therapy, Angela worked on the Ambulance as an EMT.  Angela has worked at AvantSleep since 2012 and is currently in a position as Clinical Supervisor for Western Canada.  Angela enjoys working at AvantSleep helping patients acquire a better-quality night sleep through education and follow up on positive airway pressure therapy. 

Philippe

Philippe is a Registered Respiratory Therapist who works at our Calgary offices and has been with us since 2015. Having a passion for teaching, he ensures his patients clearly understand their diagnosis of Sleep Disordered Breathing and the relationship to their overall health and well being. Philippe often teaches Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Respiratory Students during their clinical rotation in Sleep Medicine and was voted the Best Preceptor in 2017 by his students. Philippe is very passionate in making sure his patients are comfortable with CPAP Therapy. Having first-hand knowledge of therapy gives Philippe a unique perspective of patient experience and methods of utilizing various new equipment on the market to improve patient compliance.

Amy

Amy graduated in 2016 from NBCC in Saint John, NB as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.  Shortly after graduation, she moved to Cape Breton, NS where she gained valuable clinical experience in critical care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. When the opportunity to move closer to home and her family presented itself, she eagerly moved to Moncton and joined the AvantSleep team in June 2017, which started her career in sleep medicine. After 4 years with AvantSleep, Amy has proven herself to be an enthusiastic educator and clinician. Her kind and compassionate demeanor make even our most challenging patients feel comfortable and at ease.

Tasha

Tasha is a Registered Respiratory Therapist at our Dartmouth location. Tasha completed her Respiratory Therapy diploma in 2017 and has worked in sleep disordered breathing ever since. She has always enjoyed the personal connection she forms with patients. Originally from Pinware, Labrador, Tasha spent three years servicing patients in rural Newfoundland as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and clinic manager. She relocated from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia in October 2020 to work with AvantSleep. She resonates with the importance AvantSleep places on continued follow up care. Tasha has been exploring Nova Scotia in her spare time and is very open to hiking trail suggestions.

Vince

Vince graduated from NAIT’s Respiratory Therapy program in 2017 and joined AvantSleep in 2021. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Kinesiology and spent a short career in rehabilitative medicine. Always one to enjoy the little things, he likes providing education and therapy so everyone else can do the same. In his off time, Vince balances binging a good TV series with playing or watching several sports. (Go Oilers!)

Lynda

In 2022 Lynda retired to the East Coast from a 30+ year career in critical care/ acute care and after a brief retirement she joined the AvantSleep team. Lynda’s career in sleep medicine has challenged her to discover new skills and technologies that help her patients improve their quality of life. Lynda loves being part of the amazing Nova Scotia AvantSleep team. She is always looking to expand her knowledge so she can educate her patients and provide the best care possible.
